Mom and Girl time

I got to hold my girl today.

It was just so great to hold her. They took out her oxygen tube today. She has a small amount of oxygen available in a nose tube but she is mainly breathing room air. They have also taken her off her pain meds and are starting to change and cut back on her other inputs as well. She is doing so great. Her colour is good and she is sleeping and waking well. Her throat is still quite swollen and sore (from the oxygen tube). She tries to cry but can't get her vocal cords to make much noise - but that will come in the next couple days.

The next stage is introducing food. They haven't said when they will start that but we hope that Bronwyn faces that with as much courage and success as she has to this point.

Gavin is doing well also - he has been very patient with us. He was totally thrilled today though as his Grandparent have come up again for the weekend.

We are thrilled with how things are going. Each positive step Bronwyn takes helps our optimism and our spirits.

So. . .we were just wondering if that was really the first time you got to hold her? That must have been. . .are there even words?

P.S. If that wasn't the first time, yeh, we're morons.

I'm glad that you were able to hold her. Ruth and I just recently got back from our holidays and are finally getting caught up with news. This is the first time that I've seen your blog. Love Ian (The other one!)

What a beautiful little girl. God is awesome to have blessed you and Wes. We will continue to pray for a full recovery.
Your compassion for others in time of need is incredible, Roberta. What inner strength it must of taken to comfort another child when you yourself are dealing with a sick child - hats off to you!

I was looking at Willow's baby book the other day at the picture of Wes holding Willow, remember? I hope Wes got a chance to hold Bronwyn too and she could be comforted by his strong, confident arms!

C'mon Bronwyn, get talking!
Do you want to end up just smiling your joy at the world like your dad does?
We love you all so much.
This week end, Sheena, Michael and company are here. We should get them to sneak up on your grandpa while he is looking at pictures of, or reading about Bronwyn. You have seen the look Berta. Someday we may tell Bronwyn how much he loved her, and her eyes may fill with tears, as are mine.
God bless us all!
Love,

Oh, yeah, another thing - it seems that you are finding the "village" that you need to raise Gavin. He will be better off for this experience, as are we all.
